Georgia National Fair sees rise in attendance

Thanks to perfect weather for 11 days, the Georgia National Fair attendance rose to 445,395. That’s an increase of 1.2 percent or 5,464 more people than last year.

“The 23rd Georgia National Fair was the second best Fair in our history,” said Randy Moore, executive director. “It was a very strong Fair” he added.

Once again, Fairgoers proved they like the rides on the midway. Initial gross sales reports from Reithoffer indicate the 2012 Georgia National Fair will be their top grossing Fair in the company’s entire history.

Preliminary sales reports from food vendors show that revenues will at least equal and may possibly surpass last year’s record. For many food vendors, their sales were higher than any other fair. The 2011 food sale revenues totaled $2.7 million.

“While the Reaves Arena concerts were good shows, ticket sales did not perform to our expectations,” Moore said. “We will begin work immediately to improve the quality offered at our concerts.”
